This blog began as a way of sharing my experiences throughout my yoga teacher training. Since that training has been completed, and I am currently a seminary student. I will continue to chronicle my experiences and share them with you on my yogic journey. Further down the rabbit hole we go.
Ellyn was trained as a massage Therapist at Irene’s Myomassology Institute, one of the nations oldest and most prestigious schools of therapeutic myomassology. She has spent the greater part of the last 6 years honing her craft as a myomassologist. She has worked with hospice patients since 2007 and continues to bring comfort and relief to those who are most in need of healing touch. Ellyn is also a Reiki Master Practitioner. While in massage school her interest in yoga deepened and she began a regular yoga practice. In 2006 Ellyn was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and has used yoga and meditation as a form of therapeutic healing in order to calm the effects of PTSD. Yoga has been a staple in her life and she wishes to share that gift with others. She received her yoga teacher training at Yoga 4 Peace in Southgate, Michigan. Yoga 4 Peace is a non profit organization that seeks to keep yoga accessible to all, through volunteers and community service.

Gentle Warrior Yoga
Gentle Warrior is a flowing series of movements that will bring focus and awareness to the body, and breath through movement. Over time yoga can become an extremely effective tool in moments of flashbacks and anxiety attacks. Coming back to awareness of breath, and making the breath smooth and even has proven to be an enormous saving grace when it comes to calming the mind of one who suffers with PTSD. Becoming aware of the breath is the start to calming the mind. This class will focus on integrating these principals and carrying them off the mat.
Yoga for Thick Chick
Many women have privately shared that they have never practiced yoga because they thought that they were too big and yoga was only for skinny women. This class is designed for women who are not skinny yet have the desire to use this ancient system to cultivate their bodies and minds toward a place of love, acceptance, strength, grace, poise and beauty. Yoginis truly do come in all shapes and sizes.
This class is geared toward at risk youth. If you or someone you know is homeless, has been abused or traumatized mentally, physically or sexually please join us in this yoga session as we give the youth an opportunity to let go of the stress of daily life and be in a safe space that nurtures their inner strength and innate ability.
